Sunset Woods Park Seating Plaza

Sunset Woods Park serves as Highland Park’s central park, offering active and passive recreation, gathering areas, and connections to the downtown. The Park District Board of Commissioners approved design services to renovate Sunset Woods Park’s iconic Rocket Ship playground and Titanic Tides Tot Lot located on the western edge of the park.

The Parks Foundation of Highland Park raised $30,250 (surpassing our original goal of $25,000) to build a playground seating plaza located between the two newly constructed playgrounds — the Rocket Ship (ages 5-12) and Nature-themed Tot Lot (ages 2-5). Contribution options included 140 custom inscribed brick pavers at the new seating plaza and 3 hopscotches with businesses’ logos placed at any Park District park or facility of your choice.

Buy a Brick

You can still purchase a $200 brick to be placed at the Sunset Woods seating plaza. This is a unique way to celebrate the special ones in your life or a special occasion such as a birthday, anniversary, or remembrance. The 4”x 8” brick paver will be engraved with your message (maximum of three lines with up to 13 characters per line, including spaces and punctuation).

Orders are sent to the fabricator on March 1 and August 1 of each year. For more information contact: Mike Evans at 847.579.4085 or mevans@pdhp.org.
